I’ve struggled with acne since college. I’m not going to get into my acne journey in this post, but if you want to heard about how I manage my acne, check out this blog post. Today I am going to break down the Alani Nu Balance Supplement.
**Of course always consult your doctor about adding any new supplements into your diet. It is an herbal supplement so you don’t need a prescription but it’s always good to check to make sure it is a good option for you.
Buy them here! You can also find them at GNC, but every time I went they were usually sold out.
First things first
Acne isn’t totally curable… You can definitely manage it, but for 40% of us, acne is a daily struggle.
Even if you eat super clean, have a top-notch skincare routine, etc sometimes it’s not enough.
Sometimes, it can be more hormonal.
Enter Alani Nu Balance.
If you get acne around your jawline and chin, in the same spot, sometimes painful, and around the time of your period, it’s hormonal.
If you get acne around the oiliest part of your face (like in your T-zone) it’s more stress-related that is due to increased cortisol which increased oil production and clogs pores.
When cortisol levels rise, they disrupt levels of hormones. And when you are constantly under stress, your homes can change causing more acne.
So stress and hormonal acne are different (caused by different things and appear in different places, but also can be looked at as the same.
My Personal Experience
I got my first bottle in October of 2020, took it until gone but then went without them for about 3-4 weeks.
The first bottle, I didn’t really notice a difference in my skin.
Once I reordered them off Amazon and did a subscription so that it would come every 30 days, I consistently took them for 2 months. (Totally Recommend so you never forget to order them)
This is when I started to notice something.
I was stressed to the MAX in January and usually, when I am super stressed I break out. BUTT my skin actually looked good!
Cost & How to take Alani Nu Balance Supplements?
For 1 bottle, it lasts for 1 month (30 day supply) for about $50 per bottle.
You need to take 4 pills with a meal every day. I take it in the morning with my other pills right after breakfast.
Definitely take with water and you might need to drink 4-8 oz bc I found that even taking two at a time it feels stuck in my throat.
If you want, you could also break open the capsule and put it into your smoothies.
Be consistent with taking your pills to see results.
I recommend signing up for the Amazon subscription because it automatically gets sent to you every month so you never forget.
What is Alani Nu Balance good for?
The balance supplement is designed to support hormonal balance, weight management, complexion, and fertility.
I feel like most results people notice are regarding their skin complexion.
I did have a friend message me when I first starting taking it that one week after her taking it she got pregnant. So do what you will with that information.
Ingredients and their benefits:
Myo-Inositol: Inositol is a vitamin-like substance that is produced in the human body, but also can be made in a lab. It comes in many forms but the most common are myo-inositol and D-chiro-inositol.
There’s not a lot of scientific evidence to support the following uses, but it’s definitely something to try out to see if it works for you.
Inositol might balance certain chemicals in the body to possibly help with mental conditions (panic, OCD, depressions), help insulin work better, and conditions such as PCOS and diabetes during pregnancy. (Source)
L-Glutathione: L-Glutathione is an antioxidant produced in the cells that decrease with age.
It helps against free radicals and if you are exposed to too many free radicals, it leads to more cell damage, leading to the appearance of wrinkles, dull skin, and lower energy levels associated with aging. (Source)
DIM: DIM is thought to help balance hormone levels via its effects on estrogen and is used to treat acne, aid weight loss, and reduce premenstrual syndrome (PMS) and menopause symptoms. (Source)
In one study in mice on a high-fat diet, 23 mg of DIM per pound (50 mg per kg) of body weight significantly reduced the formation of new fat cells.
However, there are no studies done on humans.
ALA: ALA- Combined with Myo-Inositol has been shown to increase insulin sensitivity in women who are overweight/have PCOS.
However, there is not a lot of evidence that ALA has any effect on weight loss in humans. (Source)
But through my research, one website found that when taking in alpha-lipoic acid (ALA) in large amounts, 1800mg daily, you may experience weight loss – as per a study in the American Journal of Medicine.
Chromium: seems to enhance the effects of insulin and lower glucose levels. Some people use chromium supplements to build muscle or trigger weight loss. Some chromium studies have shown these benefits, but others have not. (Source)
Folate: Has a positive action in cardiovascular, neural, and psycho-emotional health. Folate helps to support fetal development. (Source)
How long does Alani Nu Balance take to work?
It personally took me 2 months to really notice a difference.
The website says it takes 3-4 weeks.
Everyone is different so take that with a grain of salt.
It can be a lot of money but if it works, it’s worth it!
Try it for at least 2-3 months to give it a real chance, but you HAVE TO BE CONSISTENT!
Does Alani Nu Balance help with weight loss?
The results that I have seen have been my skin, but it does have some ingredients that do help with some weight loss.
If you are looking for major weight loss only, there are other products out there. However, it mainly comes down to your diet. This supplement helps regulate hormones that can increase the stress that can trigger ’emotional eating’ that can lead to increased weight.
Alani Nu Balance Side Effects
The website lists the following:
- Stomach discomfort
- Diarrhea
- Gas
- Bloating
- Headache
The most common one I have heard from people is the headaches but usually goes away in about a week. This is because your body needs time to adjust to the ingredient DIM.
I hope this breakdown of the Alani Nu Balance supplement helped! I personally love it and will be keeping it in my routine for awhile.
Do you take it? What are your thoughts/results?
