Fall and winter is upon us! And depending on where you live, you might be trying to keep warm while also cute. Don’t worry, I have a round-up of 8 different types of beanies for different styles, all beanies for women for warmth and fashion.
Some of these different styles of beanies merge into one another or they can seem the same. Most of the outfit inspiration that I have listed under each different type can be used to mixed and matched with different beanies. Or even other types of hats in general.
Here are some of my favorite beanies of the 2024 season!
1.PomPom Beanie
Need I say more. This is the cutesy beanie that always has the fluff ball on top usually made of yarn, faux fur, or thick string of some sort. It’s the most feminine type of beanie out there and my personal favorite because I feel like it’s the most flattering on everyone.

Throw on a cute coordinating sweater with your beanie and your look is complete. Or you could even wear a sweater dress with over the knee boots for a dressy look.
2. Cuffless Beanie
Cuffless is like it says, it doesn’t have a cuff. It’s just a cap, essentially, with no additional length to unroll. The edge reaches your forehead. I find most of these to have a logo of some sort like a school or professional sports team.

This is the definition of trying to stay warm outfit, minus the crop top…. Find a shorter puffy coat with sweatpants that flatter you body type and finish off with sneakers or maybe even mini Ugg boots if you are feeling basic. haha
3. Cuffed Beanie
These are the opposite of cuffless beanies because they are cuffed (can you sense the sarcasm in my tone). These are usually the second universal flattering on everyone. The cuff should cover your ears and forehead. You will usually find cuffed beanies in wool or cotton. If you have sensitive skin, beware of wool because it’s itchy.

When I think of a cuffed beanie (like the Carhartt ones) I think of Bre Sheppard. She has so many outfits on your Instagram and LikeToKnow.it account for cuffed, high-top, and pom pom beanies.
4. Hipster Beanie
The hipster beanies are a variation of the cuffed beanie and look like slouchy beanies. The difference is those hipster beanies is they have more material to cover your head better. This style is more for fashion purposes than keeping your head warm purposes.

This look is finished off with heels but I feel like you could also wear booties or combat boots. I love the simple, casual jeans and t-shirt with a wool trench coat look.
5. The Slouchy Beanie
Slouchy beanies are one of the few beanie styles that don’t have a cuffed brim. It’s a longer style that sits on top of your ears and has more material that slouches down towards the back of the ears. These are more of a grunge look or carefree look and can be hard to style if it doesn’t have a purposeful outfit to go along with it.

Even though this beanie is more of a high-top or cuffed beanie, this outfit look could still work with a more slouchy beanie. Since slouchy beanies are more ‘grunge’, you could also wear combat boots and a leather jacket to edge it up.
6. Woven Beanie/Skullcaps
Woven beanies are also known as skullcaps and are the oldest style of beanie hats in history. They are usually thinner and are made of cover the entire head. The purpose of these beanies are to keep you warm, but they can be cute depending on the type.

Even though this isn’t a skullcap beanie in the picture, this more adventurous/athletic/hiking/camping outfit would look cute with one of these beanies. There aren’t many examples of women wear skullcap beanies because some people think they are the same as fisherman beanies. Which I guess they could be but if they are too short, I don’t think they look very flattering.
7. Knitted Beanie
Knitted Beanies are, obviously look hand-knitted. They are thicker and perfect for keeping you warm on extremely cold days. They can come cuffed or cuffless depending on the style you are looking for. These are usually pretty flattering if you buy them from a store but sometimes the ones that grandma makes aren’t cute..or even… Sorry Grandma!

Now, knitted beanies can merge into two other categories of beanies like in the inspo picture below. So this outfit could work for literally any beanie style in my opinion and is the most realistic (in a way) for fall.
8. High Top Beanie
High Top Beanies are cuffed and worn with the top left sticking up. I personally can’t pull these off but there are very trendy. You can usually wear a regular cuffed beanie like a high top beanie ie the Carhartt beanie. These are more casual and can be worn with anything from sweatpants and jeans.

High-top beanies look good with anything, but especially with a loose, bigger top like an oversized flannel, sweater, or a puffer coat with tighter bottoms like jeans, leggings, etc.
Shop the different types of beanies for women
You can also find a lot of beanies of women at Walmart, Target, Forever 21, and HM. However, I would just shop for those in-store because online sometimes doesn’t have the inventory like in-store. And it’s easier to try them all on to see the different types of beanies that work best for you and your style..
Also, check out Amazon for more or even Etsy for unique ones.
What is your personal favorite type of beanies to wear and style?
