Do You Have A Lip Routine? – Well, You Need One!

We all have a skincare routine (or at least you better), but do you have a lip routine?

You CANNOT neglect your lips! You can get wrinkles on and around your lips if you don’t take care of them. Not to mention, cracked, chapped lips! If you don’t have a lip routine, don’t worry, you can steal my anti-wrinkle, anti-chapped lip routine.

Exfoliate

The first step in your lip routine is to exfoliate. You need to take off the dead and dull skin from your lips. Especially in the winter, your lips crack and can dry out a lot. If you want soft lips, you need to scrub ‘em! I recommend a sugar scrub not only for your lips but also for your face.

Lip treatment

Next, you want to really hydrate your lips with something that is deeply hydrating like a mask or a serum specifically for lips. Look for a product with Vitamin E, Shea Butter, Peptides. This will hydrate and plump your lips while the peptides help with preventing wrinkles on your lips. Do this at night after you brush your teeth.

Sunscreen

Sunscreen in lip balm is usually overlooked. Most lip balms have like 15 SPF, but try to find one with higher SPF (aim for 30+) and keep reapplying especially in the sun. This avoids a lip sunburn (it’s happened to me and it sucks!) and damaged skin can lead to unhealthy lip skin and WRINKLES!!

Other tips:

  • Drink enough water! A dehydrated body is reflected through your lips.
  • Avoid straws. *Now, I love straws so when drinking through them, just don’t make a really intense sucking face with your lips. Does anyone really go crazy when sucking from a straw?
  • Avoid making repetitive facial movements that wrinkle up your lips, like the intense straw drinking face
  • Extra eye cream on your upper lip – I just use the leftover eye cream on my upper lip to help with the tightness depending on your eye cream.

I hope this inspires you to get a lip routine. Find one that works for you, that products are in your price range, and effective!
