I bet you have heard of hair oil. You know, it’s usually thicker, heavier oil that you put on your hair usually after the shower to help dry ends? Well, there is something called dry oil spray for hair that helps with dry ends but is lightweight and won’t make your hair look greasy. And you can use it when your hair is dry for a finished look.
What is Dry Oil Spray?
Dry oil spray is applied to your hair by a fine mist at the end of your hair routine for the day. It instantly minimizes frizz, protects and nourishes your hair. And the best part, you just spray it in your hair and no oily hands!
Dry oil is much less greasy, wet, and heavy than regular hair oils.
It’s not actually dry. It is referring to the fact that it dries quickly once applied. Other oils that leave a light residue are referred to as wet oils.
Who Would Benefit From A Dry Hair Oil Spray?
Honestly, anyone!
It’s ideal for fine hair and people who want the benefits of regular hair oils but are looking for light oils for hair that add little to no weight.
I have thicker hair and use a regular hair oil AND a dry oil mist for hair.
My regular hair oil (I use the Dae Prickley Pear one) is used once a week after the shower after I use a leave-in conditioner.
**I have a whole post reviewing the Dae Hair Care line here.
I use my dry oil spray for hair more on the daily basis. Since I don’t style my hair every day so those days, I just don’t use it unless my hair feels dry. Currently, I am using the VERB Ghost Dry Conditioner Oil.
What Are The Benefits of a Dry Oil Spray for Hair?
- If applied regularly, it can help your hair shaft be lubricated reducing the friction that often leads to damaged hair.
- Dry oils that contain sunflower oil and avocado oil contain vitamin E which can protect hair from UV light.
- Dry oils are hydrating reducing breakage and frizziness that is caused by dry hair.
- It enhances the shine in your hair looking more polished and finished.
Ingredients To Look For
Try to find a dry oil spray that includes at least 3 of these ingredients:
- Grape Seed Oil
- Safflower Oil
- Sunflower Seed Extract Oil
- Glycerin
- Moringa Seed Oil
Dry oil might not be for everyone and you might not find it necessary. But if you have dry ends or go more than a couple of days without washing your hair, I would recommend adding one to your routine.
