I’ve talked myself out of starting a blog so many times. I have also talked myself into starting multiple but then neglecting them and never returning. This time is different.
I have stuck to it for three months and I enjoy it! Do I make money three months in? No. Do I get a bunch of traffic? No. But it’s nice to do something just for me. I’m in charge. I can do what I want. Post when I want. Post what I want. And I don’t have to report to anyone.
What I Like
I would say my top passions that I enjoy are writing, fashion, skincare, and hair. I’m not talking about just for blog purposes, but that’s what I do in my free time and what I enjoy talking to other people about. Hair and skincare tips, shopping and putting together outfits, and writing.
Writing
I’ve always liked writing, but never did much with it. In school, I wrote, but that was forced. Now I can just do it for me, and if others want to join along, great! I’m not gonna lie, I haven’t done like any writing since college….
Then how can it be something I love if I don’t do it? That’s what I would think to myself over the years. The only excuse I have is that I was lazy. I would watch TV instead of exploring it more. I would just sit at home instead of writing. I also feel like I have to be stimulated at all times, which is really bad! So, I am making it a part of my weekly, if not daily routine.
Fashion
I love clothes!! What girly girl doesn’t?
I love shopping for clothes in-store, trying them on, looking at all the fabrics, styles, colors, everything. I also love online shopping, finding the best deals, going from one site to another, it’s like the ultimate speed date shopping trip. It doesn’t matter where you live you can still purchase items from stores without driving and waiting in line.
I love putting together outfits and pushing the limits with fashion. My office environment is very casual, but one thing that I love is that people never know what ‘vibe’ I will be going for that day. They have told me this I’m not just saying this.
Fashion is a way of self-expression and you can totally tell with me how I’m feeling based on my outfit. If I am feeling good and confident, I’m usually in a statement top (most likely with puffy sleeves). If I’m cold and tired, I’m usually just in a white t with a flannel.
Skin Care
I am VERY passionate about skincare. If you don’t take care of your skin, your confidence can be affected in such a negative way. Believe me, I have an entire acne story blog post (read it here) and you will understand why I care so deeply about skincare.
I am so passionate about skincare that I sell it! I am a Rodan and Field consultant and very proud of it. They are the only products that keep my acne-prone skin clear and healthy feeling. It’s the #1 Skin Care Company in North America. Don’t believe me? Read it here!
Your skin also shows what else might be wrong with your body because it does start within. Products are important of course, but what you are consuming is just as important. I can do more posts about skincare problems but for now, this is all.
If your skin is a 2, with makeup you can’t be a 10. FACT.
TAKE CARE OF YOUR SKIN!
Hair
Ever since I was a kid, I always liked having cool hairstyles. When I was little, I would have my mom try to do them, but she never got them quite right. Sorry, Mom. So I would redo them and love it. Were they that great? No, but I loved them and that’s all that mattered.
Now, I love trying unique hairstyles. Amber Fillerup AKA Barefoot Blonde is my idol. From the first time I discovered her blog years ago, I have since looked up to her. Since finding her, I have gotten more creative as an adult with my hair, usually with braided hairstyles.
I wanted to be a cosmetologist as a kid, but now we have YouTube where I learn all my hair tips and tricks. I love learning about it and sharing what I learn with others.
With all of these ‘passions’, if that’s what you want to call them, at the end of it all, I love learning to share with others to help them.
Don’t think these are the only topics I like talking about and exploring.
Since this blog is for me, I want to figure out new things and try new ideas. That’s what this blog is for me. A way to explore and do something just for me!
Caring About Others Opinions
One reason it took me so long to start a blog and to be consistent about it was that I was afraid of what other people would think.
I didn’t think that I cared about other people’s opinions, but I quickly realized that I was holding myself back because of how much I actually did care. But I think we all do in one way or another.
I remember when I started selling skincare, I was afraid people would think I was in this ‘pyramid scheme’ even though direct sales are NOT. I was afraid that they would judge me and think my intentions were bad when I really just wanted to share products that I love and helped me.
Something big when it comes to caring about other’s opinions is your support system. If you are surrounded by people who bring you down, don’t support your dreams, bring negativity, BYE FELICIA!
Now, if your ideas are harmful and/or very unrealistic then that is different. I’m talking about if you talk to them about a career change for instance and they bring you down by saying, “You shouldn’t do that, you aren’t smart enough or qualified enough.” They should be supporting you, uplifting you, and helping you find a way to get there.
If you want to do something, like start a blog, YouTube Channel, change careers, try a new sport, DO IT! Don’t let other’s opinions keep you from doing something you really want to do or try.
I hope you learned a little more about me and really took what I have to say about not letting other people’s opinions get to you seriously. If you want to try something new and don’t have a support system, reach out to me on Instagram and we can come up with the next steps and be accountability partners!
