Not everyone has long, thick hair to make the perfect voluminous bun. I get it! I have thick hair and am pretty good at hairstyles, but buns are one of those hairstyles that are hard to perfect, They turn out different every time no matter how long you have been doing them. However, today I am going to share with you how to fake a big, voluminous bun in minutes!
The secret? The Sammy from Insert Name Here!
I recently got “The Sammy” in Platinum which is the bun hair extension. I used to have one of those ‘ponytail hair pieces’ that you can really tell its not real hair back in middle school and I LOVE IT! Since then, I haven’t really experimented too much with a hair piece like this so I was excited to try it out.
There are ponytails and other extensions you will find on the website. There aren’t a ton of options for hair colors, but if you ask, they will help color match for you. My hair is a little more warm than the hair extension, but I have a smudge root so when my hair is up, my roots show so you can barely tell the difference.
So, what is this “Sammy”?
The Sammy is a bun hair extension made of Japanese Synthetic fiber so you can actually heat style up to 400 degrees if you wanted to, but I wouldn’t recommend it. You don’t have to keep it in the curls that it comes with. It is also 16 inches of hair extension to style it however you want.
It’s fairly easy to ‘install’ once you get the hang of it. It comes with 4 clips to secure the pieces around your bun and an elastic drawstring to make sure it’s tight and not going anywhere.
How to ‘install it”
To start, make sure your hair is in a tight, secure bun wherever you want your bun to sit. If you have a lot of hair, make sure that it is a tight bun and as close to your head as possible so there isn’t a lot of bulk to work with when placing it. Then, take the 4 clips and push them into the base of the bun flush with your head. Then pull the drawstring tight and tuck it under the piece and bobby pin the end. Now it should be secure!
How to style it
How I style it was a high ballerina bun, low messy bun, and a high messy bun. When styling it, my biggest tip is to make sure it is secure, the drawstring isn’t showing, and when in doubt, add a hair accessory around the base of the bun.
Play around with the hair extension and the hairstyles you want to use with the extension. Don’t just expect it to look good on the first try. The last 2 pictures are when I went really messy and just pinned it in place.
Overall, I am pretty impressed with the INH hair extension! Once you play around with it more and mess it up, it starts to look more natural. Check out the website and pick up the Sammy or anything else to fake a big, voluminous bun.
